Dharamshala cricket stadium prepares for India vs England Test match

Dharamshala: The picturesque international cricket stadium in Dharamshala is gearing up to host a Test match between India and England starting from March 7.

The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) pitch and ground committee has initiated preparations, with nine pitches available at the stadium. Among them, five pitches have been prepared specifically for international matches, equipped with wicket cameras.

The HPCA will finalize the pitches by the first week of March. Additionally, improvements are being made to the outfield. Dharamshala will host its second Test match from March 7 to 11.
Previously, in 2017, the Indian team played its first Test match against Australia in Dharamshala, which resulted in a victory for India.

Advanced sub-air system installed at stadium

Following rainfall, an advanced sub-air system has been installed at the Dharamshala cricket stadium to dry the ground within 15 to 20 minutes, allowing play to resume swiftly. Moreover, the HPCA has its own super sopper available.

Sunil Chauhan, the chief pitch curator of HPCA, mentioned that the number five pitch will be prepared for the upcoming Test match between India and England. The pitch will be prepared to ensure consistent play over the five days, with special efforts being made for this purpose. The practice area pitches will also be prepared well in advance.
