Dharamshala:In a unique blend of spirituality and service, the Police Lines at Sakoh near Dharamshala witnessed a soulful gathering on Friday (April 11, 2025) where a group of police personnel, including women, participated in a spiritual discourse led by renowned saint Swami Shri Sanjay.
Amid the lush green surroundings and serene ambience of the camp, the event provided a moment of calm reflection and collective introspection for the law enforcers, who often find themselves amid stressful and high-pressure responsibilities. The initiative was led by a senior police officer known for his creative and holistic approach to wellness within the force.
Swami Shri Sanjay, addressing the gathering, spoke about the principles of life, the purpose of human birth and the duties attached to one’s karma.
Drawing on ancient wisdom and simple language, he emphasised that even those in uniform have a spiritual path, one rooted in righteousness, courage and service to society.
“There is no contradiction between duty and devotion,” the saint told the gathering. “When your actions are aligned with honesty, compassion and discipline, you are already walking a spiritual path.”
The highlight of the session was the recitation of the ‘Vishnusahasranama’ (a revered Sanskrit hymn with the thousand names of Lord Vishnu). The rhythm and energy of the chanting created a powerful atmosphere of peace and unity among the attendees.
Officers present described the experience as “refreshing and grounding”, noting that such initiatives help balance the emotional and mental stress that comes with the demanding nature of police work. The session concluded with a brief interaction where the saint answered questions on dealing with anger, fear and ethical dilemmas in everyday policing.
This thoughtful initiative is being viewed as a positive step towards integrating spiritual wellness into the disciplined life of police personnel, providing a deeper perspective on service, responsibility, and inner strength
