Dharamshala: — A high-profile wedding is on the cards in Himachal Pradesh’s political circles. Dr. Aastha Agnihotri, daughter of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, is set to tie the knot with IAS officer Sachin Sharma, official sources confirmed on Sunday.

Sachin Sharma, a 2022-batch IAS officer, is presently serving as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at Amb in Una district. Belonging to Haryana, Sharma has quickly established himself as a committed administrator, known for his on-ground efficiency in handling public grievances and local governance issues.

Dr. Aastha Agnihotri, on the other hand, is an academic by profession and has been actively engaged in spiritual and social initiatives in Himachal. She came into the public spotlight particularly after the passing of her mother, Professor Simmi Agnihotri, in February 2024. A respected educationist, Professor Simmi’s demise was a profound loss to the family. In her memory, Dr. Aastha later led a seven-day spiritual gathering in Una, which many saw as both a tribute and an expression of resilience.

Though the exact date and venue of the wedding have not yet been officially revealed, the announcement has already created a buzz in political and bureaucratic circles. Observers note that the marriage marks the coming together of two service-oriented families—one deeply entrenched in politics and public life, and the other representing administrative leadership.

For Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, who represents the Haroli constituency and serves as one of the key leaders in the state Congress, the occasion brings personal joy amid his demanding political responsibilities. The wedding is also being viewed as a significant social event, expected to draw top political leaders, bureaucrats, and dignitaries from across Himachal and neighboring states.

The upcoming nuptials, blending tradition with modern aspirations, reflect not just a union of two individuals but also a strengthening of ties between the political and administrative spheres in the region.
