In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Dalhousie police recovered 4.664 kg of charas (cannabis) during night patrolling and nakabandi duty at Lahar on NH-154A.
The operation was led by SDPO Dalhousie Mayank Sharma, along with officials from the SDPO office and PP Banikhet. Two suspects — Ram Dyal, son of Man Singh, and Balak Ram, son of Heera Lal, both residents of Bharara village in Churah tehsil, Chamba district — were intercepted while traveling in a temporary number taxi.
On searching the vehicle, the contraband was found in their conscious possession. The recovered charas was weighed on the spot using an electronic scale, sealed with proper seal impressions, and seized in the presence of independent witnesses.
Police confirmed that all codal formalities were completed in accordance with law. An FIR under Sections 20, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Dalhousie, and both accused have been arrested.
Authorities said further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics.
