Congress leader Manish Sareen from the Dalhousie Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh has raised concerns over the Central Tibetan School in Dalhousie, claiming it is on the verge of closure despite having infrastructure comparable to any modern higher educational institution.

Sareen said that the school campus is equipped with all essential facilities required for a quality learning environment, yet its future remains uncertain. In view of this, he has written a suggestion letter to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, urging the state government to repurpose the campus for higher education.

In his letter, Sareen recommended that the Central Tibetan School premises be either converted into a regional college of Himachal Pradesh University or, in consultation with the Centre, developed as a constituent college of any central university.

He added that such a step would lead to “significant and much-needed improvement in the region’s educational infrastructure”.

Copies of the letter have also been sent to Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for consideration.

Sareen stated that the people of the region are hopeful that the government will take timely action to prevent the loss of a valuable institution and instead transform it into an asset for local students.
