Shimla: Mandi MP and BJP leader Kangana Ranaut has launched a sharp critique of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance following the Mahayuti’s decisive victory in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Ranaut accused the opposition of disrespecting women, calling them “daityas” (monsters) who had lost their moral compass.
“Those Who Disrespect Women Are Monsters”
Commenting on the election results, Ranaut said, “I had anticipated Uddhav Thackeray’s loss. History shows us how to identify ‘devtas’ (gods) and ‘daityas’ (monsters). Those who respect women, through actions like 33% reservation or providing essential services, are ‘devtas.’ On the other hand, those who disrespect women are ‘daityas,’ and they faced the consequences of their actions by losing the elections.”
Ranaut referred to her personal experiences with the Thackeray-led government, including the controversial demolition of her house in Mumbai in 2020. “They demolished my house and used foul words against me. It was evident they had lost sight of what is right and wrong,” she added.
The 2020 House Demolition Saga
Ranaut’s bungalow at Pali Hill in Mumbai was partially demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) during the MVA government’s tenure, citing unauthorized constructions. In a fiery response, she accused Thackeray of political vendetta, saying in a video, “Uddhav Thackeray, what do you think? You demolished my home today, but your arrogance will crumble tomorrow.”
The incident became a flashpoint in Maharashtra politics, with Ranaut emerging as a vocal critic of the MVA government.
Mahayuti’s Resounding Victory
The Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, secured an overwhelming 230 seats out of 288 in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, further strengthening its grip on the state.
Ranaut, who has often blended her political and personal battles, remains a prominent voice in BJP’s campaign against the opposition, with her latest remarks underscoring the party’s narrative of empowerment and accountability.
The Mandi MP’s sharp rhetoric has once again drawn attention, reflecting her deep involvement in political affairs beyond her constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
