Dharamshala: Individuals continue to fall prey to fraudulent schemes despite efforts by the police and administration to raise awareness about cyber crime.

In recent incidents reported at the Cyber Police Station, two victims from Kangra and Una districts have lodged complaints after being swindled out of significant sums of money. Despite regular awareness campaigns, people are still lured into the traps of scammers in pursuit of easy money.

Two individuals have collectively lost Rs 40 lakh to cyber fraudsters who deceived them with offers on online training websites. Both victims filed complaints at the Dharamshala Cyber Police Station, alleging that unknown fraudsters duped them into losing large amounts of money. One victim from Kangra district accused the scammers of enticing him through phone calls with promises of online training, leading to financial losses through various transactions.

Similarly, a resident of Una district reported falling victim to a scam under the guise of training investments, resulting in significant financial losses. ASP Praveen Dheeman of the Cyber Police Station in Dharamshala confirmed that cases have been registered based on the complaints from Kangra and Una districts, and investigations are underway. He urged the public to remain vigilant against such schemes.
