MANDI: After the BJP adopted the slogan of “400-plus” seats this time and seeing the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at home and abroad, the Congress’ situation today seems like fleeing before the battle, BJP MLA and spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal said in a statement issued to the media.
Jamwal alleged that while all leaders had been dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister, whether it’s Mandi MP Pratibha Singh or Ram Lal or Kaul Singh, all were shying away from contesting elections because they had realised that once again BJP was set to form the government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
“With their statements of not contesting elections, these leaders have silently accepted Prime Minister Modi to lead the country once again,” he said.
Jamwal said that during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure, the country has established astonishing dimensions and India’s success has resonated even in foreign lands. He said Congress kept getting opportunities to prove itself, but due to family disputes, Congress could not succeed. Today, the situation is that Congress leaders are either shying away from contesting elections or returning the distributed tickets, which in itself reflects the deterioration of Congress.
The Gandhi family has lost the public’s trust due to being associated with a single brand.
He said that today the opposition has lost the courage to contest elections and leaders like Sonia Gandhi are also seeking to enter Parliament through the Rajya Sabha without contesting elections. Except for BJP, there is no other option left in the Centre.
Talking about Himachal Pradesh, Jamwal said that despite being in power in Himachal, the Chief Minister could not save his Rajya Sabha seat, so it is not wrong to say that Congress is a sinking ship from which even its captains do not want to sail.
Regarding giving ₹1,500 to women, the MLA alleged that guaranteeing the grant to 22 lakh women in the first cabinet meeting was the government’s main guarantee. “Today, the government is misleading the public by trapping them in conditions. While there is neither a solid policy to fulfill the government’s announcement nor any intention of the government.
After deceiving the state by giving false guarantees in 2022 and crying over the budget, they kept stepping back from fulfilling them. Today, by watching Lok Sabha and by-elections, they want to deceive the public again,” he said.
