The Centre of Indian Trade Unions’ (CITU) Himachal Pradesh unit unveiled its “Labourers’ Manifesto” for the Lok Sabha elections at a session held at Kisan Mazdoor Bhawan in Rampur on Saturday (April 13, 2024).
The convention aimed to enlighten workers about the elections and bolster the “Modi Hatao Desh Bachao” campaign. Neeldutt Sharma, Tilak, Suram Lal Banshtu, Gurdas, Kamaraj, Kapil, Chandra and others related to various projects and initiatives attended the session. Hundreds of labourers and employees, including Dinesh Mehta, Devendra, Lalita, Manju, Asha, Neemu, Sunamani, Rajendra Jishtu, Sunil Jishtu, Hemraj, Suresh Negi, Ramdas, Sunny, Pawan and Kiran, participated in the event.
CITU state president Vijendra Mehra inaugurated the convention while CITU district president Kuldeep Dogra concluded it. Addressing the attendees, Dogra urged workers to remove the Modi government from power and defeat the BJP. He highlighted the government’s continuous assault on labor rights over the past decade, emphasising the conversion of 44 labour laws into four “anti-labour and pro-capitalist codes”.
Dogra expressed concern over rising unemployment, inflation and the government’s favouritism toward corporate entities at the expense of public resources. He criticised the government’s divisive tactics and called for unity against its policies. The CITU issued a nationwide call to oust the Modi government and issued a workers’ manifesto in support of this objective.
