MANDI: On the first Monday of the sacred month of Sawan, Chhoti Kashi Mandi, renowned for its numerous Shiva temples, came alive with fervent chants of Baba Bholenath. The temples in this revered town were abuzz with devotees seeking the divine blessings of Lord Shiva, also known as Baba Bhootnath.

From early morning, a sea of devotees thronged the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in Chhoti Kashi Mandi, with long queues forming at the Baba Bhootnath Temple, a prominent shrine in the city. The air was filled with spiritual fervour as worshippers waited patiently to offer their prayers and seek the blessings of Baba Bhootnath.

Adding to the significance of the day, Mandi DIG Soumya Sambasivan also visited the Baba Bhootnath Temple to participate in the sacred rituals and offer her prayers. Her visit underscored the profound religious importance of the day and her connection to the local traditions.

Mahant Dayanand Saraswati of the Baba Bhootnath Temple reported a steady stream of devotees from dawn, all eager to receive the divine blessings. To celebrate the occasion, the temple organised a special kheer prasad distribution, enhancing the festive atmosphere and allowing devotees to partake in the communal spirit of Sawan.

Devotees Mamta and Rama Devi, who came to offer their prayers, highlighted the long-standing tradition of celebrating Sawan with great devotion in Choti Kashi. They noted that this year, as in previous years, the enthusiasm among the devotees is palpable.

The unwavering faith in Lord Shiva, manifested through the crowded temples, reflects the deep-rooted spiritual connection of the people of Choti Kashi. Devotees from not only Himachal but also from neighboring states come to seek the blessings of Baba Bhootnath, further cementing Mandi’s reputation as a hub of Shiva worship.

As Chhoti Kashi Mandi continues to draw devotees from across the region, the first Monday of Sawan serves as a testament to the enduring spiritual legacy and the vibrant religious life of this sacred town.
