Bharmour
Ahead of the upcoming Maha Shivratri festival, the Chaurasi Vyapar Mandal Bharmour has submitted a memorandum to the Bharmour administration, urging it to ensure comprehensive and well-coordinated arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival in the holy town of Bharmour.
Maha Shivratri is celebrated in Bharmour with great devotion, joy, and grandeur, as the town is revered as a sacred abode of Lord Shiva. According to ancient religious beliefs, on this auspicious day, Lord Shiva, after roaming across the universe, proceeds from the netherworld (Patal Lok) towards Mount Kailash and halts for a brief period at the historic Chaurasi Temple in Bharmour. It is believed that a special ceremonial resting bed (Shayya) is arranged inside the sanctum sanctorum of the ancient Shiva temple for the divine rest of Lord Shiva on the night of Shivratri. This unique belief makes the Shivratri celebrations in Bharmour spiritually significant and deeply revered.
Keeping in view the large influx of devotees, the Chaurasi Vyapar Mandal has requested the administration to pay special attention to cleanliness of temples, drinking water supply, electricity, sanitation facilities, and traffic management during the festival.
The Mandal has specifically urged that on Shivratri day, vehicular movement on the road from Bharmani Zero Point to the Helipad stretch be restricted, except for emergency services related to the Civil Hospital Bharmour, to avoid congestion and ensure the safety of devotees.
Additionally, the Mandal highlighted that some devotees proceed towards Manimahesh on Shivratri, and therefore demanded deployment of police personnel at Hadsar Gate to manage movement and maintain law and order. Given the heavy presence of Shiva devotees from outside states at the historic Chaurasi Temple complex, the Mandal also requested adequate police deployment within the Chaurasi परिसर to ensure proper crowd management and prevent any inconvenience to pilgrims.
Present on the occasion were Chaurasi Vyapar Mandal General Secretary Mahinder Patial, Press Secretary Pyar Sharma, Senior Vice President Pawan Patial, and senior member Surjeet Chela, among others.
