The seven-day Youth Disaster Mitra Training program concluded successfully today at the Youth Hostel in Dalhousie.
The closing ceremony was graced by DSP Dalhousie Mayank Sharma as the chief guest. He honored the newly trained Disaster Mitras and guided them on the harmful effects of drug abuse, the importance of disaster management, and the crucial role these trained youths will play as first responders during emergencies. He emphasized that Disaster Mitras will spread awareness in society and provide immediate assistance during crises.
Special guests included Sumit Gupta from DDMA Chamba and Devendra Sharma, Manager of Youth Hostel Dalhousie, who delivered motivational messages highlighting the significance of disaster management and described the training as highly beneficial for the holistic development of youth.
From the District Emergency Operations Center Chamba, Bhargav shared insights on technical procedures and ground-level response systems during disasters.
Over the course of the training, participants learned vital skills such as:
- First aid techniques
- Search and rescue operations
- Fire-fighting methods
- Maintaining mental balance during emergencies
- Communication systems
- Community-based disaster management
A total of 55 participants from Degree College Chamba and Degree College Chuwari took part in the program.
The ceremony concluded with all dignitaries extending best wishes to the trained Disaster Mitras for their future service to society and the district.
