Vikas Sharma assumed charge as the newly appointed Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Bharmour on Monday. Addressing local journalists, he said this was his first posting in a tribal region, and assured that every issue would be addressed with practical solutions, keeping in mind the area’s unique geographical challenges.
He emphasized that his primary focus would be on strengthening education, healthcare, tourism, and road connectivity, while ensuring that the benefits of the state government’s welfare schemes reach the poorest sections of society.
Highlighting Bharmour’s immense tourism potential, Sharma noted that plans were being explored to promote ice-skating sports and a winter festival during snowfall season, creating employment opportunities for locals even in harsh winter months.
He also assured permanent solutions to pressing local issues, including the Bharmour garbage dumping site and the menace of bear attacks in Khani Panchayat. Additionally, he directed that ration depots must immediately provide pending quota supplies so that residents do not face hardships during the ongoing snowfall.
