CHAMBA: To showcase the vibrant rural culture of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh, a rural fest is set to be organised at Chaminu in the district as part of the “Chalo Chamba” campaign.
The festival is scheduled to take place from January 25 to 28, offering a diverse array of activities for attendees to immerse themselves in the local flavour. People will get a chance to enjoy traditional cuisine as well as get a closer view of Chamba’s rural life, including sports activities and music.
Organised by self-help groups Chamba Ri Discovered, Gabdika, Holistic Himalaya FPC, Chaminu village committee and Chadiyara Youth Mandal, the fest promises a unique experience for visitors. Commencing on National Tourism Day (January 25), the event will kick off with activities like ‘Instameet’, ‘Sustainable Journey’, ‘Timeless Memory’ and more.
District Tourism Officer Rajeev Mishra along with Note On Map co-founder Manuj Sharma shared details about the festival. The extravaganza will feature traditional sports activities on January 27, Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and a kavi sammelan, medical camp and closing ceremony on January 28.
Attendees will have the opportunity to savour traditional cuisine and witness rural life through exhibitions, sales, music and various cultural activities. Rural stalls at H2O Anandam and traditional stalls at Rafi House will showcase local crafts and products. Sports enthusiasts can participate in activities organised at H2O Anandam Saravana Water Mill, Gurukul.
Women’s group “Discover Chamba” will host a food fest at H2O Anandam, adding a delightful culinary dimension to the festivities. To provide a firsthand experience of rural life, guided tours of the village will be offered.
Expressing their enthusiasm, Manuj Sharma and Rajeev Mishra extended an invitation to everyone to join the festival and immerse themselves in the rich heritage, traditional music and local flavours of Chamba. They emphasised the significance of such events in promoting tourism and urged other villages to draw inspiration from Chaminu and organise similar programmes, envisioning Chamba as a leader in the field of tourism development.
