Bharmour (Mahender Patyal)
Himachal Pradesh’s Bharmour subdivision in Chamba district experienced fresh snowfall starting Thursday (January 16, 2025) morning, accumulating nearly three inches by noon.
The Bharamni Mata Temple area reported one foot of snow, while the higher reaches, including Kugti Pass, Chobia Pass and Manimahesh Dal Lake, received around three feet of snow. This snowfall has provided significant relief to local farmers and orchardists.
Despite the weather, daily life remains largely unaffected. Employees of the National Highway Authority in Chamba and the Public Works Department in Bharmour are working to restore road connectivity.
A private bus got stuck on the slippery National Highway 154A at Sunku ki Tapri, causing minor disruptions. The authorities are at the spot to address the situation.
Farmers and orchardists celebrated the snowfall as a boon, aiding the chilling hours required for apple trees.
The Horticulture Department has already delivered apple saplings and other fruit plants, including kiwi, pomegranate, Japanese persimmon, peach, plum, apricot, walnut and various apple varieties, to the area. The snowfall provides an ideal opportunity for planting these saplings, further boosting local agriculture.
