Chamba (Subhash Mahajan)
The remote and tribal Pangi Valley in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing heavy snowfall since Tuesday (February 5, 2025) night, leaving the region blanketed under nearly one foot of snow by this morning.
The headquarters of the valley, Killar, has been severely affected, with temperatures plummeting sharply, intensifying the winter chill. As a result, Pangi Valley has been cut off from the rest of the region, disrupting connectivity.
Tourists thrilled by snow experience
According to local residents, fresh videos from Pangi Valley showcase an all-white landscape, with snow covering roads, rooftops and trees, creating a breathtaking but challenging scenario for the locals.
Meanwhile, popular tourist destinations in Dalhousie, including Lakkar Mandi and Dainkund, also received heavy snowfall last night, accumulating nearly one foot of snow by morning.
The sudden drop in temperature has heightened the winter feel. Several tourists already present in Dalhousie expressed their delight, saying they are thrilled to experience the unexpected snowfall and plan to make the most of it.
Chamba’s Khajjiar too receives snow
Videos from Lakkar Mandi and Dainkund depict mesmerising views, with thick layers of snow carpeting the roads, trees and buildings, turning the picnic spots into picturesque winter escapes.
Khajjiar, often referred to as the ‘Mini Switzerland’ of India, also witnessed late-night snowfall, enhancing its scenic beauty. The fresh spell of snow is expected to boost tourist footfall in Dalhousie.
