Dalhousie Police achieved success in their anti-narcotics drive yesterday when they apprehended a suspect near MES Pipeline road, Gandhi Chowk during routine patrolling.
On spotting the police vehicle, the man appeared nervous and attempted to flee. He was seen throwing an object from the right pocket of his black half-sleeve jacket towards a cemented wall before trying to run away. Acting swiftly, police chased and caught him within 20–25 steps.
The accused was identified as:
- Vikram, son of Sukhdev Singh, resident of village Nichi Mangli, Post Ramgarh, Tehsil Saniyawalan, District Ludhiana, Punjab, aged 36.
Upon checking the discarded item, police recovered a polythene packet containing 13.72 grams of heroin (chitta).
A case has been registered against Vikram under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Dalhousie Police Station. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further links in the matter.
