Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayyar attended the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of Government Postgraduate College Chamba as the chief guest. On this occasion, he honored meritorious students for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities.
In his address, the MLA praised the students’ performance and emphasized that education is the foundation of social and national development, while students represent the bright future of the country. He encouraged them to move forward with discipline, hard work, and dedication to their goals.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to quality education in remote and backward areas, Nayyar mentioned that steps are being taken to overcome the shortage of teachers. He appreciated the role of educators in shaping students’ personalities. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur for introducing important courses such as MBA, MCA, M.Com, and M.A. in Sociology at the college, enabling students to pursue higher studies locally.
The MLA also spoke about efforts to promote sports in the district and ongoing developmental projects. Students presented colorful cultural programs during the event, for which Nayyar announced a grant of ₹11,000 to the college.
Earlier, he inaugurated the expansion of the college’s digital library, developed in memory of late Swadesh Sharma by Dr. Sukhdev Sharma, who contributed ₹10 lakh—₹5 lakh for books and ₹5 lakh for furniture. Nayyar expressed gratitude for this noble initiative.
Principal Rakesh Rathore presented the annual report for 2025–26. The ceremony was attended by faculty members, students, and other dignitaries.
