Bharmour: The Himachal Pradesh government and the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board have intensified their efforts to recover pending power bills from defaulting consumers.
In a recent action, officials of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board’s Bharmour subdivision disconnected electricity connections of 350 defaulters, who collectively owe Rs 52 lakh in unpaid bills.
According to Tej Singh, SDO of the Electrical Department at Bharmour in Chamba district, defaulters have been given a three-month deadline to clear their outstanding dues.
“If they fail to make the payment within this period, their electricity connections will be permanently snapped. In such cases, if consumers wish to restore their power supply, they will have to apply for a new connection. This process will require them to clear their previous dues, submit fresh security deposits and complete paperwork afresh,” said Tej Singh.
The state government and the electricity board are adopting a strict approach to curb non-payment issues and ensure timely revenue collection.
Officials have warned that similar action would be taken across other regions of the state to recover outstanding amounts and prevent further losses.
