Opposition Demands CBI Probe into Vimal Negi Murder, Calls Out Lawlessness in Himachal

Mandi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a historic protest on March 27 at Chhota Maidan, Shimla, against the rising crime, unchecked mafia rule, and the Congress government’s failure to maintain law and order in Himachal Pradesh.
The party has accused the ruling government of shielding criminals, allowing drug, forest, khair, and scrap mafias to thrive, and covering up key cases like the Vimal Negi murder.
Addressing the media in Mandi, BJP’s chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, alleging that lawlessness has peaked in the state.
“Criminals are roaming free, the mafia is flourishing under political protection, and the government is acting as a mute spectator. Congress is not just failing—it is enabling crime,” he said.
Jamwal questioned why the government is reluctant to order a CBI probe into the murder of officer Vimal Negi, who was allegedly killed after exposing corruption in the Pekhuwala Project. “What is the Congress trying to hide? The people of Himachal deserve answers,” he asserted.

Wave of Crimes Exposes Congress Govt’s Failure
Jamwal highlighted multiple incidents that reflect the state’s deteriorating law and order:
• Congress MLA Bambar Thakur and his PSO were shot at, marking the third attack on him within a year.
• A Hindu youth in Chamba was brutally murdered and dismembered, yet no serious action was taken.
• Scrap mafia in Baddi opened fire in public, while the police remained silent.
• A father and son were killed in Una in broad daylight, but the case is being suppressed.
• A businessman in Nalagarh was shot at during the day, exposing the growing fearlessness of criminals.
He also pointed to the illegal mining mafia, with media reports capturing over 100 trucks, JCBs, and Poklen machines operating illegally, yet the government has taken no steps to curb the menace. “Even an SDM was attacked in Mandi, proving that even administrative officers are not safe anymore,” Jamwal remarked.
Vimal Negi Murder: Congress Govt’s Biggest Cover-Up?
Jamwal reiterated BJP’s demand for a CBI inquiry into the murder of Vimal Negi, stating that the Congress government is trying to shield the real culprits.
He compared the case to the Neelu Charani murder, where senior officials were arrested. “A fair investigation will expose some powerful names within the Congress—this is why the government is scared,” he alleged.
Himachal’s Economic Crisis: Debt Crosses ₹1 Lakh Crore
Beyond crime, Jamwal also hit out at the Congress government for Himachal’s worsening financial condition, stating that the state’s debt has now surpassed ₹1 lakh crore. He accused the ruling party of indulging in scams and corruption, leading to rising inflation and unemployment, while ignoring governance.
March 27: BJP’s Show of Strength in Shimla
BJP has announced a massive protest in Shimla on March 27, where thousands of workers and common citizens are expected to rally against the Congress government’s failures.
The party has put forward three key demands:
1. A CBI probe into the Vimal Negi murder case
2. Strict action against criminal and mafia networks
3. Immediate steps to restore law and order
Senior BJP leaders, including district president Nihal Chand Sharma, Mayor Virendra Bhat, district media in-charge Rakesh Ahluwalia, and Sadar Mandal president Rahul Sen, were present at the press conference.
With rising crime and growing public outrage, the Congress government is under immense pressure. Will it take action, or will it continue to ignore the crisis? The coming days will decide.
