DHARAMSHALA: The opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh has been adopting creative methods to catch the eye of the state people as they arrive daily to attend the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha at Tapovan in Dharamshala.
On the second day of the five-day session on Wednesday (December 20, 2023), BJP MLAs led by leader of opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur reached the Assembly carrying small baskets of cow dung in their hands. The aim, they said, was to remind the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government of its unfulfilled election guarantee of purchasing cow dung from farmers at Rs 2 per kg.
Speaking outside the Vidhan Sabha, Jai Ram alleged that the Congress government was struggling to fulfil the 10 poll guarantees the party had made to the Himachal people before the 2022 Assembly elections. He said the Sukhu regime wanted the state people to forget the guarantees over five years, “but the BJP will ensure that doesn’t happen”.
“We will keep reminding the Congress regime of the guarantees time and again. We always knew they were lying and we will expose the government.
On Monday, the opposition MLAs had reached the Vidhan Sabha wearing apron-type placards around their neck that reminded the Sukhu regime of its unkept guarantees of allowing 300 units of free power and Rs 1,500 monthly grant to women aged between 18 and 60 years.
