Dharamshala: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Himachal Pradesh met with Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at his residence in McLeodganj, Dharamshala on Tuesday.
The BJP secretary Summit Sharma, told that he held a conversation with the Dalai Lama that touched upon the life and legacy of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, as well as the current social and political landscape of the country.
“The Dalai Lama’s guidance is a source of deep inspiration,” said Sharma after the meeting. “His emphasis on youth empowerment and collective national effort resonates strongly in today’s times.”
Sharma added that the Dalai Lama expressed appreciation for the initiatives of Union Minister and Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur in the field of sports and youth development in the region. The spiritual leader underscored the importance of engaging all sections of society, particularly the youth, in the journey of nation-building.
BJP Mandal President Dr. Vishal Nehria and Himachal Pradesh Central Sports Authority (HPCSA) Director Prem Thakur also met the spiritual leader. They sought the Dalai Lama’s blessings for the party’s outreach and social initiatives.
The meeting was part of a two-day tour of Kangra district by Sharma, during which he is engaging with intellectuals, youth leaders, and civil society groups as part of the BJP’s commemorative events marking Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.
