Under the joint initiative of NITI Aayog and Magic Bus India Foundation, a baseline assessment of life skills was successfully conducted in the aspirational Pangi block of Chamba district as part of the Jeevan Shiksha Prakalp (JSP) program.
The assessment aimed to evaluate students’ competencies across a range of life skills, including problem-solving, decision-making, self-management, creativity, empathy, self-discipline, resilience, adaptability, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal dialogue.
JSP Fellow Trilok shared that the assessment covered approximately 484 students from Classes 6 to 8 across 20 government schools in Pangi block. Additionally, 33 teachers from 27 government schools in the region will be trained by master trainers to adopt activity-based, inquiry-driven, and challenge-oriented teaching methodologies in classrooms.
Teachers described the assessment process as highly beneficial, student-centric, and instrumental in promoting holistic development. They emphasized that such life skills programs foster confidence, sensitivity, and a spirit of social cooperation among students.
For the successful implementation of the program, JSP Fellow Trilok expressed gratitude to Block Education Officer Shri Bhagwan Das and all participating teachers for their support.
This baseline assessment marks a significant step under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, aiming to strengthen education quality and life skill development in remote regions like Pangi.
