Dalhousie: Dalhousie Hilltop School echoed with joy and cultural pride as students and staff came together to celebrate the vibrant festival of Baisakhi with great enthusiasm on Saturday. The event was held on the school campus, which was beautifully decorated with colorful flowers, traditional motifs, and festive elements to mark the occasion.
The celebration began with an insightful speech that delved into the historical and cultural significance of Baisakhi. Students then took center stage with a series of energetic and colorful performances, including traditional Bhangra, Giddha, and poetry recitations. Their lively participation and spirited stage presence captivated the audience and brought the true spirit of Punjab to life.
The event was graced by the School President, Dr. Poonam Rai Dhawan, and Chairman, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Dhawan, who encouraged and applauded the students for their commendable efforts.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Poonam Rai Dhawan spoke about the deep historical roots of Baisakhi, emphasizing its importance in Sikh history. She explained how Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth on this day in 1699, marking a significant moment of unity, courage, and identity for the Sikh community. Dr. Dhawan also highlighted the festival’s relevance for farmers, celebrating the harvest and the onset of a new agricultural year.
“Festivals like Baisakhi not only enrich our traditions but also help the younger generation stay connected to their cultural roots,” she remarked. She praised the faculty and students for putting together such a meaningful and joyful celebration.
The event concluded on a sweet note with the distribution of traditional sweets to all students and guests, spreading smiles and festive cheer.
