Bhwarna: A drug de-addiction awareness camp was organized on Wednesday at the Naya Savera Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center in Gram Panchayat Bhwarna. The event was held under the aegis of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Palampur, with active participation from local police and forest department officials.
The camp focused on educating the community about the rising threat of drug addiction and its detrimental effects on physical, mental, and societal well-being.
Gurdev Singh, In-charge of Bhwarna Police Station, addressed the gathering with a detailed account of how drug abuse impairs physical health and cognitive function, especially among the youth. He emphasized the growing challenge of drug dependency and its broader social and economic consequences.
“Eliminating addiction is essential for building a healthy society and guiding the next generation toward a more constructive path,” Singh stated.
Forest Range Officer Vinod Kumar also spoke at the event, shedding light on the psychological and environmental impacts of substance abuse. He encouraged the youth to reject intoxicants and to fulfill their civic responsibility by staying away from drug-using circles.
The camp served as a reminder of the critical role of awareness, community action, and legal support in combating drug addiction. Local residents and students participated actively, reinforcing the shared goal of creating a healthier and more responsible society.
