DHARAMSHALA: Union Minister Anurag Thakur has claimed that the BJP would secure all four parliamentary seats in Himachal Pradesh, highlighting the enthusiasm among party workers who have been rallying behind this goal.
Speaking to the media upon his arrival at Gaggal airport before heading to attend a meeting of the BJP’s ‘Panna Pramukh programme’ on Thursday (April 25, 2024), Anurag alleged that the Congress had jeopardised national security and failed to fortify the country’s borders or bolster the armed forces. He went further to describe the Congress manifesto as “anti-national” rather than representative of the party’s principles.
Anurag alleged that the Congress disrespected the architect of the Indian Constitution, Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He contrasted this with the BJP’s stance, emphasising the reverence accorded to Ambedkar under their rule.
Shifting the focus to Himachal Pradesh’s development, Anurag credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the accelerated pace of progress in the state. He cited various developmental initiatives as evidence of the Modi government’s commitment to advancing Himachal Pradesh.
Taking aim at the Congress’ dwindling influence, he highlighted their reduced presence in national politics, from 400 seats to a mere 40. He questioned the party’s ability to field candidates even for 300 seats in the upcoming elections. He didn’t spare Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) either, pointing out the incarceration of several party leaders across states like Punjab and Delhi. He called into question Kejriwal’s commitment to public service, suggesting that if he possessed any integrity, he would have resigned from his position as Chief Minister of Delhi.
