Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Bharmour, Kulveer Singh Rana, chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Monday under the Integrated Tribal Area Development Programme. The meeting brought together officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, AYUSH, Health, and Tehsil Welfare departments.
During the session, the Horticulture Department reported the distribution of 10,000 apple saplings to 800 orchardists this fiscal year, aimed at expanding apple cultivation by 15 hectares. Previously, apple production in the Bharmour region spanned 4,000 hectares. Officials emphasized increased focus on apple and walnut farming in Bharmour, and beekeeping in the Kugti-Lahal belt.
The Fisheries Department shared that 411 kg of fish were distributed last fiscal year across Bharmour, Chamba, and Pathankot. This year’s target is 500 kg. Additionally, eight beneficiaries received around 40,000 fish seeds to boost local aquaculture.
The Agriculture Department noted that 5.1 quintals of pea seeds were distributed under the Agricultural Promotion Scheme. Pea cultivation is particularly productive in Holi, Kyari, Chanota, and Garola, which remain priority zones.
From the Health Department, BMO Dr. Dipesh Baral informed that ₹15 lakh has been allocated for medicine procurement. The ADM instructed officials to prepare an annual consumption list to streamline purchases via the DVDMS portal. Dr. Baral also confirmed that the new hospital building is ready, and a request for essential furniture has been sent to higher authorities.
ADM Rana urged all departments to ensure timely and effective utilization of allocated budgets under the tribal development programme.
