In an incident that has sent shockwaves across Himachal Pradesh, a young woman in Shimla has accused a man of raping her after blackmailing her for years. The victim filed a police complaint, leading to the registration of a case against the accused.
The 24-year-old victim stated in her complaint that she first met the accused in 2019. He lived in her neighbourhood and they came to know each other through the accused’s sister.
Over time, they started talking on the phone and the accused began meeting her at various locations. However, his behaviour turned abusive later, the complainant alleged.
Victim alleges she was sexually assaulted in Chotta Shimla forest
The victim alleged that in 2022, the accused started blackmailing her, threatening to come to her house. Fearing for her safety, she complied.
She alleged that later that year, he took her to a forest in Chotta Shimla where he sexually assaulted her after beating her up. He also recorded the incident and repeatedly threatened to leak the video unless she gave in to his demands.
The situation escalated on April 8, 2025, when the accused confronted the victim near her home, threatening to expose her to her family.
Accused threatened to make public private videos
Terrified, she left home under the pretext of going to HP University. The accused met her near IGMC in his car, where he demanded sexual favours. When she refused, he beat her and took her to Kufri-Chharabra Road.
There, he dragged her out of the car, assaulted her with a stick and gave her an ultimatum: pay ₹2 lakh or submit to his demands. After she refused again, he threatened to kill her and raped her once more.
The victim filed an official complaint, leading to an FIR. Police are investigating the allegations, including charges of rape, assault and blackmail.
