10th session of 14th Himachal Legislative Assembly begins in Tapovan with obituary references

The tenth session of the 14th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly began on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) on a solemn note, with the House paying tributes to former MLA late Babu Ram Gautam.


As the session commenced, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania invited members to offer condolences over the demise of the former legislator. Members from both the ruling and opposition benches, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder singh Sukhi and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, stood together in expressing respect and grief, highlighting Gautam’s contribution to public service and his role in strengthening democratic values in the state.


The members recalled his dedicated work for his constituency Jhanduta in Bilaspur district, his simplicity in public life and his commitment to issues concerning the common people. They described him as a grassroots leader who remained connected to public concerns throughout his political career.


After observing a moment of silence in his memory, the Assembly recorded the obituary references in the proceedings.
Following the condolence messages, eight Bills will be tabled in the House, including GST (Amendment) Bill, 2025; Amendment in salary and allowances of Ministers and MLAs Bill, 2025.
