DHARAMSHALA: The 10-day winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to commence on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) at Tapovan in Dharamshala.
Ahead of the opening day, legislators and senior officials will start arriving on Tuesday, resulting in a significant increase in VIP movement across the town. Various departmental heads are expected to reach Dharamshala to oversee last-minute preparations and ensure that all arrangements are in place.
Security forces deployed across Tapovan for smooth proceedings
As the winter session is being held at Tapovan, the flow of visitors, petitioners and locals is likely to shift from central Dharamshala to the assembly complex. With this anticipated surge in public movement, authorities have intensified security measures.
Police teams began reaching Dharamshala on Monday evening and will be deployed across designated sectors after their briefing on Tuesday. Security checks, traffic regulation, and crowd management will be among the key areas of focus.
On Monday, all government departments remained active in Dharamshala, monitoring preparations throughout the day.
Senior officials undertook inspection rounds to review logistics, assess security arrangements, and ensure that the venue is ready for the high-profile gathering. Additionally, coordination meetings were held to streamline inter-departmental responsibilities during the session.
Congress and BJP gearing up with separate strategy meetings
Political activity will also pick up pace on Tuesday as both the ruling and opposition parties meet to finalise their strategies. The Congress Legislature Party, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, will hold a meeting to plan its approach on key issues. The BJP Legislature Party, under Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, will also convene to outline its tactics for cornering the government within the House.
Meanwhile, preparations at the Assembly Secretariat are in full swing. Over 600 questions submitted by MLAs have already reached the secretariat, indicating a session packed with debates and discussions. The winter session will run from November 26 to December 5 at the Tapovan Assembly complex.
