Palampur’s Dr Mansi Verma joins PGI-Chandigarh as Assistant Prof, was first from Himachal to get special degree at AIIMS-Delhi

Palampur (Kangra): In a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh, Dr Mansi Verma from Palampur has taken up the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the prestigious PGI-Chandigarh, beginning her duties from Saturday.


Inspired by her grandfather’s daily medication routine in childhood, Dr Mansi resolved early in life to become a physician. She has previously served as an Assistant Professor at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.


Dr Mansi completed her schooling up to Class 12 from Mount Carmel School, Thakurdwara. She went on to do her MBBS and MD degrees from IGMC-Shimla and later pursued a DM in Cardiovascular Radiology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, becoming the first woman doctor from Himachal Pradesh to achieve this rare distinction.


Dr Mansi hails from a family rooted in the medical and academic fields. Her father Dr RK Verma retired as a Professor from Tanda Medical College while her mother, Manju Kaushal is serving at KLB College, Palampur. Her husband Dr Harimohan Sharma, is a doctor at IGMC-Shimla. Her brother Dr Madhav Verma and sister-in-law Dr Yukti Mahajan are specialist doctors at the Civil Hospital, Palampur.


Grateful for the love and support she received on her journey, Dr Mansi credits her success to her spiritual guide Vishuddhanand, her parents and all well-wishers. She expressed her commitment to public service, stating that working in the government sector allows her to serve society in the truest sense.
