The Himachal Pradesh Ayurveda Medical Officers Association has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for his announcement of full-pay study leave for MBBS doctors pursuing postgraduation studies.
The association is optimistic that this policy will soon be extended to Ayush doctors as well.
Association president Dr Sanjay Guleria revealed that during a meeting with the Chief Minister on November 2, a delegation from the association raised the demand.
The Chief Minister assured them that Ayush doctors would receive similar benefits and directed officials to expedite the necessary actions.
Optimism for quick resolution
Dr Guleria conveyed hope that the Chief Minister’s positive outlook would lead to a swift resolution of the matter. “If required, we are prepared to meet the Chief Minister again to ensure this demand is met,” he said.
Additionally, Dr Guleria urged Ayush Minister Yadwinder Goma to prioritise the issue and address other service-related concerns.
Contribution of Ayush doctors in rural areas
Highlighting the role of Ayush doctors, Dr Guleria said they are instrumental in providing healthcare in the state’s rural and remote areas.
He emphasised the need for academic and professional development opportunities for these medical officers, including full-pay study leave during postgraduate studies.
“Providing such benefits will allow Ayush doctors to advance their education without financial worries, ultimately strengthening the state’s healthcare system,” he noted.
Call for comprehensive rights
The association also stressed the importance of ensuring educational and service-related rights for Ayush Medical Officers throughout their careers.
They urged the government to guarantee equitable facilities and benefits to support their professional growth.
