Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has received a threat of being targeted by a “human bomb” during the Republic Day event while hoisting the national flag. The threatening email was received on the official email ID of the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla.
Following the receipt of the email, a case has been registered at Sadar Police Station, Shimla, on the basis of a complaint forwarded by the Superintendent of Police, Shimla. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
Security arrangements have been tightened at Shimla’s Ridge Ground, where the Republic Day समारोह is scheduled to be held on January 26. According to officials, the threatening message was sent from an unknown email ID to the official email address of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The email was later forwarded to Sadar Police Station through the Superintendent of Police’s office.
Police officials stated that the information contained in the email was found to be completely false and baseless. The message appears to have been deliberately sent through electronic means by an unidentified person with the intention of creating fear and panic among the public.
Authorities have assured that all necessary security measures are being put in place to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of Republic Day celebrations.
