MANDI: In response to recent leopard activity near Pandoh in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, the Forest Department has taken swift action by installing a cage in Siyo village under the jurisdiction of the Pandoh range.

The cage was strategically placed near the Siyogi stream, the same area where the leopard was recently caught on CCTV footage.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning around 6 am when a leopard was recorded roaming freely near the Siyogi stream, adjacent to the national highway.
The animal was seen heading toward a residential zone close to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, causing panic among local residents after the video went viral on social media.

Following public concern and demands for immediate intervention, the Forest Department responded quickly. On Friday, Range Officer Devanshu Thakur, along with his team, installed the cage and urged residents to remain cautious until the leopard is captured.
“People should not panic but must remain alert and avoid going outdoors after dark,” Thakur advised.
Siyo panchayat pradhan Veena Mahant, deputy pradhan Fateh Ram, local resident Raj Kumar and other villagers expressed their gratitude to Nachan Divisional Forest Officer SS Kashyap and Range Officer Devanshu Thakur for their prompt response and action.
