Sameer Rastogi appointed Himachal Principal Chief Conservator of Forests


Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has appointed senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Sameer Rastogi as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Forest Force).


The appointment was made on the recommendation of the Special Selection Committee and has been approved by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.


Belonging to the 1988 batch of the Indian Forest Service, Rastogi (HP cadre) will assume the top post in the state’s forest department with immediate effect. He has been placed in the apex scale (Level 17 of the Pay Matrix), drawing a fixed monthly salary of Rs 2,25,000.


With decades of experience in forest management, environmental conservation and administrative leadership, Rastogi’s elevation comes at a time when the state is focusing on sustainable development, biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.


His appointment is expected to bring further momentum to the ongoing efforts in forest protection and ecological restoration across Himachal Pradesh.
