DALHOUSIE: For Hilltopians, environmental awareness is not limited to just one day, but is an integral part of their daily school life. On June 5, 2025, Dalhousie Hilltop School reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to sustainability through a thoughtful and energetic celebration of World Environment Day.

Guided by the Municipal Council of Dalhousie, students participated in an environment awareness rally through the town, spreading impactful messages about the importance of responsible actions to protect nature.

With powerful slogans, eye-catching posters and enthusiastic participation, the rally aimed to educate the local community on the need for environmental conservation.
Under the leadership of the school management, a large-scale plantation drive was also conducted on the school campus. This initiative not only added to the green cover but also served as a practical example of educating students in sustainable practices.

Addressing the students, Dr Poonam Dhawan, President, Dalhousie Hilltop School, delivered an inspiring message: “Saving the environment is not a choice anymore — it’s a responsibility. Every tree we plant, every resource we conserve and every small action we take towards a greener world will shape the future of our planet. Let us be responsible citizens and live in harmony with nature.”

Adding colour and creativity to the celebration, students expressed their commitment to the environment through artwork and slogans. Their thoughtful and engaging pieces reflected a deep awareness of ecological issues and a passion for change.

In a remarkable display of unity, students, teachers and school staff participated in the plantation activity together, symbolising their collective commitment to a greener future. The celebration also included a pledge ceremony, where all attendees vowed to make individual efforts to protect the environment and say “No” to plastic — a vital step toward sustainable living.

An emotional mime performance by the students depicted the devastating consequences of environmental destruction, moving the audience and encouraging them to adopt eco-friendly habits and mindsets.

The event concluded with a powerful collective promise: Every Hilltopian would continue to document and carry out environmental actions — not just on Environment Day, but every day. With this pledge, the school reinforced its mission to make every day an Earth Day, honouring, protecting and preserving not only our planet, but Mother Earth herself.
