Awareness Camp on Spice Cultivation Held in Bharmour

In a significant effort to promote spice cultivation in Himachal Pradesh, a one-day awareness camp was conducted in Bharmour by the Department of Horticulture, Bharmour, in collaboration with the Department of Seed Science and Technology, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni (Solan).

The camp witnessed active participation from 90 farmers, eager to learn about improved agricultural practices for cultivating spices. Experts from both departments guided attendees through modern techniques aimed at enhancing productivity, sustainability, and market viability.

Officials emphasized the importance of adopting advanced methods to boost yields and improve the overall quality of spices grown in the region. They highlighted the role of innovative practices such as organic farming, efficient irrigation systems, and disease-resistant crop varieties in ensuring successful spice cultivation.

Farmers were also provided insights into government schemes supporting agricultural development, helping them access resources and financial assistance to expand their spice farming ventures. The interactive sessions allowed farmers to seek expert guidance on tackling common challenges such as soil management, pest control, and post-harvest processing.

The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of spice farming in Himachal Pradesh, providing economic benefits to local farmers while strengthening the region’s agricultural landscape.

The camp concluded with a commitment from authorities to continue supporting farmers with technical expertise and market linkages, ensuring the long-term sustainability of spice cultivation in the state.
