Chamba: In a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh, renowned folk singer Inder Jeet has been conferred with the prestigious Himachal Ratan Award for his outstanding contribution to preserving and promoting Himachali folk culture. The award was presented by Bollywood actress Esha Deol at the Excellence Iconic Awards 2025, organised by 3 Finger Entertainment Ltd in Dehradun.

Hailing from the picturesque village of Doghri near Kullu-Manali, Inder Jeet’s musical journey is nothing short of inspirational. Born on March 12, 1992, he began nurturing a passion for music from a young age despite having no formal training or resources. At just 16, he released his first video album “Dil Ka Kya Kasoor” with 10 self-written and composed songs, a bold move in the pre-digital era.

But Inder Jeet chose a unique path. Steering clear of commercial cinema and glamour, he focused on Himachal’s roots — its language, traditions, attire and folk heritage. Through his music, he breathed new life into fading traditions, turning them into a cultural force.

His breakout hit came in 2016 with the song “Haade Mere Mamua”, which became a household favourite. This was followed by viral hits like “Laadi Shauni”, “Pakhli Manu”, “Budhua Mama” and “Saaja Laga Maghe Ra”, earning millions of views on YouTube and bringing Himachali folk music to the global stage.

More than just entertainment, Inder Jeet’s songs often carry powerful social and spiritual messages. Tracks like “Atharah Karadu” pay tribute to Himachal’s Dev culture while “Mata Kerde Nasha” is a clarion call against drug abuse. His emotional tribute to six-time Chief Minister late Raja Virbhadra Singh moved audiences and was deeply appreciated by the former leader himself.

With over 100 songs, numerous national and international performances, and a growing fanbase, Inder Jeet has become a musical ambassador for Himachal Pradesh. His mission goes beyond melodies — he is working tirelessly to preserve, protect and globalise Himachal’s rich folk traditions.

In his acceptance speech, Inder Jeet dedicated the Himachal Ratan Award to his fans and the people of Himachal Pradesh, saying: “This honor belongs to every listener who has supported our culture. Through my voice, I hope to carry the fragrance of Himachal’s soil to every corner of the world.”

The award ceremony also recognised achievers from various fields across India for their exemplary work.
