Renowned young author Pawan Chauhan has achieved yet another milestone in his literary journey as five of his works have been included in the syllabus of private schools affiliated with the CBSE and ICSE boards for the academic session 2025-26.
Students across the country will study his books as part of Viva Education’s Paramita textbook series. The works include:
- Class III: ‘Aise Samajh Aayi’ Baat (Play)
- Class IV: ‘Jwari Parampara’ (Dialogue)
- Class VI: ‘Subah Ke Moti’ (Poem) and ‘Lok Sanskriti Aur Abhooshan’
- Class VII: ‘Prakriti Ka Khoobsurat Uphar – Barot’ (Feature)
Aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF 2022-23
These textbooks have been developed in line with the guidelines of the National Education Policy-2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2022-23. Each piece highlights significant themes.
‘Aise Samajh Aayi Baat’ emphasises the importance of cleanliness. ‘Jwari Parampara’ promotes the value of teamwork. ‘Subah Ke Moti’ captures the natural beauty of mornings.
‘Lok Sanskriti Aur Abhooshan’ showcases the cultural heritage of Kinnaur district. ‘Prakriti Ka Khoobsurat Uphar – Barot’ celebrates the scenic beauty of Barot.
Proud inclusion with literary giants
Pawan Chauhan’s works will be studied alongside those of renowned authors such as Subramania Bharati, Sarveshwar Dayal Saxena, Jaishankar Prasad, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Leo Tolstoy and Sumitranandan Pant.
Expressing his joy, Chauhan stated, “Being included with the authors we grew up reading is an unparalleled honour.”
The curriculum was edited by a team of notable experts, including Dr Manjari Shukla (member of the NCERT curriculum committee), Dr Seema Devi (Assistant Professor of Hindi), Gurpreet Sharma and Avinash Jha.
Pawan Chauhan’s contributions to education
Pawan Chauhan, a prolific writer of children’s stories, poetry and features, has made significant contributions to Himachali children’s literature.
His works have previously been included in the syllabus of the Himachal Pradesh Education Board, Maharashtra state curriculum, Viva Education, New Saraswati House and Lead Education. His travelogue was also a part of the Bachelor of Commerce syllabus at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala; and the Bachelor of Arts curriculum at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.
About the author
Currently a Hindi lecturer at GSSS Sianji, Mandi, Chauhan has published nine books across various genres.
A short research study titled “Critical Analysis of Pawan Chauhan’s Children’s Stories” has been conducted by the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala.
In addition to his literary pursuits, Chauhan wrote a tourism column titled ‘Tour’ for the ‘Rashtriya Sahara’ newspaper’s Sunday magazine Umang in 2014 and has guest-edited children’s special editions of several magazines.
