Dharamshala: An academic event focusing on student assessment and encouragement was organised at the Dharamshala College auditorium on Sunday, starting at 11:00 am. The programme witnessed the participation of around 400 students from Classes 10, 11, and 12, making it one of the larger student-focused academic gatherings in the region.
The event was organised following a large-scale mock test conducted by Guru Study Centre, one of Himachal Pradesh’s leading coaching institutions. The mock test had been held across nearly 200 schools located in the Kangra and Chamba districts. A significant number of Class 12 students from both Medical and Non-Medical streams participated in the test, along with students from Classes 10 and 11. The initiative aimed to evaluate students’ academic preparedness and help them understand their performance level in a competitive examination environment.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Mohit Rattan attended the programme as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nisha Kumari. Other prominent personalities present at the event included Sanjeev Gandhi, an honourable member of Himachal’s Eco Tourism Society, and Dr Ashish Garg, who is heading City Hospital, one of the premier healthcare centres of the region. Their presence added significance to the programme and motivated the students.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest emphasised the importance of discipline, consistency, and clarity of goals in academic life. He encouraged students to remain focused, manage stress effectively, and make informed career choices. Deputy Superintendent of Police Nisha Kumari also interacted with the students and spoke about self-confidence, personal safety, and the role of determination in achieving success. Other speakers highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance between studies and health, especially during examination years.
The organisers from Guru Study Centre shared details about the mock test initiative and explained how such assessments help students identify their strengths and areas requiring improvement. They also announced that students who were honoured during the felicitation ceremony would be eligible for a scholarship of up to Rs 50,000 from Guru Study Centre if they choose to take admission at the institute. The scholarship announcement was welcomed by students and parents alike and was seen as a strong encouragement for meritorious students.
The programme concluded around 2:00 pm with a felicitation ceremony. Students who successfully cleared the mock test were honoured in the presence of guests, teachers, and parents. Certificates, scholarships announcements, and words of encouragement were presented, boosting students’ morale. The event ended on a positive note, with students leaving motivated and better prepared for their upcoming academic challenges.
