Dharamshala: In a case of a land dispute, two accused have been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and fined ₹50,000 each after being found guilty of murdering a person using sharp-edged weapons. If the fine is not paid, they will have to undergo an additional two months of imprisonment. The sentence was delivered by Sessions Judge Jyotsna Sumant Dadhwal at the Family Court in Dharamshala, Kangra, on Saturday in connection with an incident from Baijnath.

According to Anil Sharma, the Assistant District Attorney representing the government, the incident occurred on July 13, 2013, when Lehkraj, a resident of village Tarehal Vehdu in the Baijnath tehsil, along with his family members, attacked Kishori Lal and his family members armed with sharp weapons and sticks. This attack led to the death of Kishori Lal, and his son, Sudarshan Kumar, was severely injured. Following this, a complaint was filed by Kishori Lal’s other son, Sanjay Kumar, at the Baijnath Police Station, leading to the registration of a case.

After hearing the testimonies of 24 witnesses and the arguments from both the prosecution and defense sides during the trial at the Family Court in Dharamshala, the court convicted Lehkraj and Anil Kumar, pronouncing the above-mentioned sentence. The case was pursued by Assistant District Attorney Anil Sharma on behalf of the prosecution.
