After a reprimand from the High Court, the Uttarakhand government has immediately suspended the manufacturing licenses for 14 products of Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurved Limited.

The government submitted an affidavit to the High Court stating that the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority issued the suspension order on April 15. This affidavit was filed by the joint director of the authority, Mithilesh Kumar.

The state government has suspended the manufacturing licenses for products including Swasari Gold, Swasari Vati, Broncom, Swasari Pravahi, Swasari Avaleha, Mukta Vati Extra Power, Lipidom, BP Grit, Madhugrit, Madhunashini Vati Extra Power, Livamrit Advance, Livogrit, Eye Grit Gold, and Patanjali Drishti Eye Drop.

The joint director has asked for unconditional forgiveness for unintentionally not complying with the court’s orders. He assured the court that the authority will not take any action that disobeys or weakens the dignity of the High Court’s orders. The joint director informed the High Court that he is fully aware of the seriousness of the situation and the case. He has always tried to perform his duties to the best of his ability and in accordance with the law.

The state government also informed the court that it will continue to take all appropriate or further steps against Divya Pharmacy or Patanjali Ayurved Limited in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law or the directions of the High Court.

The Supreme Court had directed the Uttarakhand government to file a reply regarding a contempt case related to the 2022 petition of the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The court had directed the filing of an affidavit in this regard. In its petition, the IMA had accused Patanjali Ayurved of defaming the COVID vaccination campaign and modern medical systems (allopathy).

Patanjali Ayurved’s founder, yoga guru Swami Ramdev, and the company’s managing director Acharya Balkrishna have already apologized to the court without any conditions. The company also issued advertisements in various newspapers apologizing for the contempt of court.
