MANDI: Congress candidate and Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, contesting from the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi parliamentary seat in Himachal Pradesh, has called upon BJP fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to clarify its stance regarding BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut.

At a press conference in Mandi on Monday (April 29, 2024), Vikramaditya Singh sought clarification from the RSS on whether it supported Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut’s candidacy. He emphasised the need for clarity from the RSS, particularly regarding Kangana Ranaut’s past remarks on food and drinks, considering her association with Hindutva ideology.

Vikramaditya Singh said that while he had no objection to Kangana Ranaut’s personal dietary habits, he believed that the RSS, being a globally respected organisation, should address its stance on supporting candidates like her. The Congress leader has in the past alleged that Kangana had in her interviews “admitted to consuming beef out of curiosity”.

Responding to Kangana Ranaut’s usage of the term ‘Shehzade’ (princes) for him and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Vikramaditya Singh criticised Kangana Ranaut for her choice of language since arriving in Devbhoomi, likening it to ‘tapori’ (colloquial) speech in Mumbai. He sarcastically commended Kangana Ranaut for her linguistic choices and challenged her to an open debate at the historic Seri stage in Mandi city.

He invited Kangana Ranaut to clarify her vision and engage in a public debate with him in front of the media and intellectuals. He also remarked on Ranaut’s changing attire during her visits, likening it to a film shoot and suggesting her lack of familiarity with the local culture and civilisation.
