There are chances of rain and snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday (April 21, 2024) even as a yellow alert for thunderstorm and lightening has been issued for April 22 and 23.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the weak western disturbance on April 21, there was a possibility of rain at only a few places while the weather would remain clear at most places.
It said a fresh western disturbance would become active on April 22 and 23, which could lead to thunderstorm, rain and hailstorm at isolated places. It may even snow in the higher areas.
On Saturday, there was light cloud cover and sunshine in most areas of the state. Due to change in weather, the minimum temperature in Keylong and Kukumseri again fell into minus. Till Saturday evening, 99 roads in Lahaul-Spiti and 112 power transformers in Chamba district remained stalled. The traffic on a total of 104 roads in the state is completely closed while 133 power transformers are stalled.
Tourists could not reach Sissu on Saturday due to fresh snow a day earlier. The entire Pangi area is in the grip of cold wave due to fresh snowfall on Friday night in the upper peaks including Kilar headquarters of Pangi tribal area of Chamba district.
There was darkness in 336 villages in the district on Saturday. Due to the hailstorm and rain, wheat crops and fruit flowering in apple orchardists has been affected.
