Paragliding accident claims female pilot’s life in Himachal’s Billing town

Dharamshala: A tragic incident occurred in Billing valley, Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, where a female pilot lost her life in a paragliding accident on Sunday.
Identified as Ritu Chaudhary, aged 54, she hailed from Sector 34, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Chaudhary, an experienced pilot with nearly a year of paragliding experience, was undertaking a solo flight from Billing on Sunday morning.
According to reports, around 11:30 am, Chaudhary crash-landed on a hilltop above Thathi village due to unknown reasons, sustaining severe injuries.
Despite immediate assistance from fellow pilots, including her husband Ashutosh Chaudhary, who serves in the Indian Air Force, and an Air Force helicopter dispatched to the scene, she was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, considering weather fluctuations as a probable cause. Both Ritu and her husband had been actively involved in paragliding activities in the area for nearly a year.
Authorities are also seeking insights from experienced paragliders to understand the circumstances leading to the tragic accident.
