In the wake of recent snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, Superintendent of Police Mayank Choudhary conducted an inspection of the roads in the region to evaluate road conditions and ensure safety for commuters amidst challenging weather conditions.
The primary focus of the inspection was to assess the safety and suitability of traffic along the roads from Atal Tunnel in Rohtang to Darcha. The inspection was done to prevent any possible danger or disruption in travel.
Accompanied by a team of officials, Choudhary issued necessary guidelines to all police stations and post in-charges. These directives are aimed to evaluate the impact of recent snowfall and implement measures to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow throughout the district. Various key areas and routes were carefully examined during the inspection.
In light of the assessment, the district police have urged both local residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions. Emphasising the potential risks, including the possibility of glacier movement in the valley, the authorities urged caution and advised travel only when essential.
