MANDI: Prof Anupama Singh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sardar Patel University at Mandi, called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday (March 15, 2024) as he was here for the closing ceremony of the weeklong International Mahashivratri Festival.
Prof Anupama highlighted the pressing issues facing the university and advocated for their swift resolution. At the heart of the conversation was the prolonged delay in announcing the results of the Junior Office Assistant (IT), an issue unresolved for over 18 months.
While acknowledging the government’s promptness in releasing results for other JOA IT exams, Professor Singh expressed concern over the oversight in addressing staffing vacancies within the university, which currently exceed 100 across teaching and administrative roles.
The severity of the situation was underscored by the operational hurdles faced by the university’s 46 affiliated colleges, struggling with understaffing. She appealed to Governor Shukla to press for the government’s intervention.
She also emphasised the urgent need for the transfer of 478 acres of designated land to the university. This acquisition, she stressed, was crucial not only for the university’s sustainable growth but also for securing vital grants from the central government. Without clear land ownership, the university faces obstacles in accessing crucial funding opportunities, hindering its ability to fulfill its academic mandate effectively.
