Himachal CM to grace inaugural function on March 9

Mandi: As the International Shivaratri Festival approaches, anticipation mounts for the inaugural function set to be graced by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu on March 9.
The festival, renowned for its cultural richness, promises evenings filled with enchanting performances by acclaimed artists representing the diverse tapestry of Himalayan, Hindi, and Punjabi cultures.
Deputy Commissioner and Mela Committee chairman Apoorv Devgan unveiled the lineup, revealing Hansraj Raghuwanshi as the headline act for the inaugural night, alongside the mesmerizing Kumar Sahil.
Subsequent evenings will feature an array of talents including Mamta Bhardwaj, Laman Band, Ishant Bhardwaj, Sunil Rana, Arin, Arshpreet, Akhtar Brothers, and the charismatic Payal Thakur, known for her stint on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs. Geeta Bhardwaj, Shilpa Sirohi, A C Bhardwaj, Jassi Gill, Babbal Rai, Anuj Sharma, and Police Band Harmony of the Pines will also grace the stage, each performance complemented by insightful awareness programs on pressing social issues.
The festival’s grand finale will be marked by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s ceremonial conclusion on March 15, following the majestic procession of Lord Rama.
The Shivaratri extravaganza will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube to extend the festival’s reach beyond physical borders. Enthusiasts from across the globe can now partake in the festivities and immerse themselves in the cultural tapestry of the region.
Saras mela: Celebrating indigenous crafts
Adding another dimension to the festivities, the National Rural Livelihood Mission will host a Saras mela, showcasing indigenous crafts and products from Mandi and neighbouring states. With over 80 stalls at the Indira Market, visitors can indulge in a shopping spree while supporting local artisans.
Health and hygiene: A priority
Amidst the revelry, organizers have emphasized the importance of maintaining health standards. Shopkeepers are urged to uphold quality standards, with mobile testing labs deployed for food inspections. Special attention has been devoted to ensuring cleanliness and waste management at the fairgrounds, underscoring a commitment to environmental sustainability.
