Shimla: The 5.50 lakh children studying from nursery to eighth grade in government schools of Himachal Pradesh will receive mid-day meals for which Rs 19.37 crore has been released as well as for the salaries of 22,000 employees preparing these meals.
On Monday, the Himachal government released the budget for all districts. Schools will receive the funds in one or two days. Rs 5.75 crore will be spent on the salaries of mid-day meal workers and Rs 13.61 crore on children’s meals.
The central government has released the third installment of the Prime Minister’s Nutrition Scheme for the academic session 2023-24 to the state. Education Minister Rohit Thakur stated that the government is making efforts to provide nutritious meals to school children.
