SHIMLA: Ahead of the forthcoming budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, a crucial cabinet meeting is being chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the Secretariat in Shimla on Friday (12 noon).
The agenda for the cabinet meeting comprises several significant matters, including the resolution of persistent issues surrounding the school management committees (SMCs) and computer teachers across the state. These matters are long-standing sources of contention and are expected to be addressed during the meeting.
Furthermore, discussions regarding the establishment of a medical device park and the introduction of bills slated for the upcoming budget session are anticipated. Among the matters up for deliberation is the Junior Office Assistant Post Code-817, for which meaningful decisions are expected to be made.
The cabinet is also poised to address the pressing issue of filling vacant positions in various government departments, recognising the need for a functional workforce to efficiently execute governmental functions.
Of paramount importance is the looming possibility of the declaration of Lok Sabha elections immediately following the budget session. In light of this, the government may decide to expedite the process of filling vacant positions within departments to ensure seamless administrative functioning during the electoral period.
The budget session of the Himachal Assembly, scheduled to commence on February 14 and extend until February 29, will comprise a total of 13 meetings, with two non-official working days designated within this timeframe. Chief Minister Sukhu is slated to present the second budget of his current tenure on February 17, marking a pivotal moment in the legislative calendar. The budget session will commence with the approval of the Governor’s address, a customary prelude to the ensuing legislative proceedings.
